BETWEEN ASLEEP AND AWAKE

Memories walk daintily on enticing feet
Coaxing me to slip away into their song
I lie suspended in the flower strewn meadows
Floating on ecstatic breaths where I belong

They wash over me like summer showers
Releasing the musky spice of the earth
Like the happily tumbling infant brook
Bubbling and gurgling and laughing in mirth

I feel their caress like the gentlest breeze
Ruffling its fingers through my flowing hair
Cocooning me in their heady jasmine bouquets
Dancing me away to their midnight lair

Cherished moments spent in the lap of the past
Rock me gently into slumbering bliss
Serenely I descend into the land of dreams
Secure in the embrace of my memories' kiss
